8. Calculating costing for a project with auto generated materials schedule How to instantly generate a Bill of Materials or BOQ for a project to present project costing Amritha Krishnan

For any BIM project, you can extract an auto calculated Material Schedule, after Create Building. It includes the quantity of material necessary for the slabs, walls and flooring.

By default, all slabs, walls and flooring have certain composition:

  • Grade slab: 150 mm PCC

  • Intermediate slab: 150 mm RCC with plaster and paint finish on all faces, excluding the face with the flooring

  • Roof slab: 150 mm RCC, finished with waterproofing and screed on the top face, plaster and paint finish on all remaining faces

  • Wall: 200 mm brick, finished with 12 mm plaster and 2 mm paint on exposed sides.

  • Flooring: 25 mm thick tile, fixed with 25 mm screed.

The default values can be over ridden in 3 ways:

  1. Any thickness edits of walls and slabs using the Move tool update the thickness of the core material, without affecting the finish composition.

  2. You can edit the composition and thickness of each component using Edit Class in Object properties. Here you can individually change inner and outer finishes, for more accurate calculations.

  3. Application of materials By Face and By Object update the composition of finish/ cladding and thickness of the structure respectively.
