This guide provides a detailed walkthrough on using the Edit Length tool for precision adjustments in 2D view. This tool offers the flexibility to control each edge independently and choose the direction of the edit. The Edit Length tool is applicable to both space and BIM objects. Follow the steps given below to learn how to use the tool.
Editing Spaces
Step 1: Navigate to the Design Tab and select 'Edit Length'.
Step 2: Hover over the edge that you wish to edit. Then left-click on an edge to select it. The selected edge will be highlighted in yellow, and arrow will indicate the direction of the edit. Optionally, use 'Tab' (on the keyboard) to switch the edit direction.
Step 3: Input the new dimension for this edge and press Enter.
Note:
a. Any changes to an edge will also affect the neighboring edges connected to it. This interconnected behavior ensures that adjacent walls or elements remain aligned and maintain proper continuity within the model.
b. The Edit Length tool has limitations to prevent rooms from collapsing into themselves or crisscrossing. By default, it's set to 10 millimeters. If a dimension input would cause a room to collapse or delete a neighboring room, the input will be highlighted in red and won't be processed.
Editing BIM Elements
The Edit Length tool is versatile, applicable to all BIM elements like wall, slab, column, beam, floor and ceiling. Follow the steps below to edit the length of a wall.
Step 1: Select 'Edit Length' from the Design tab.
Step 2: Click on the wall edge that needs editing (optionally, use Tab to switch the edit direction).
Step 3: Input the new dimension and press Enter.
The same steps apply when adjusting edge lengths for other BIM elements.
