How to Enable your dedicated GPU on Windows 10 & 11?

Updated this week

Running graphics-heavy applications? Make sure your browser is using your dedicated GPU instead of the integrated one. Here's how to switch it on both Windows 11 and Windows 10.

Windows 11

  1. Click the Start button and open Settings

  2. Go to SystemDisplay

  3. Scroll down and click Graphics

  4. Under Custom settings for applications, click Add desktop app

  5. Click Browse, then select your browser:

    • Chrome: C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe

    • Edge: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application\msedge.exe

  6. After adding it, click on the browser entry

  7. Click Options → Select High performance (this enables the dedicated GPU)

  8. Click Save, close Settings, and restart your browser (make sure all windows are closed)

Windows 10

  1. Open the Start Menu → Go to Settings

  2. Select System → Go to Display

  3. Scroll down and click Graphics settings

  4. Under Choose an app to set preference, ensure Desktop app is selected

  5. Click Browse and locate your browser’s .exe file:

    • Chrome: C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe

    • Edge: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application\msedge.exe

  6. Click on the added browser → Click Options

  7. Select High performance to force use of the dedicated GPU

  8. Click Save, then close Settings

  9. Restart your browser completely (close all windows)

Note: We recommend Chrome for best performance. Edge and Safari are also supported. Other browsers may work, but haven’t been thoroughly tested.
