If your office already has its wall types built in Revit, you can bring them into a Snaptrude team library instead of rebuilding them by hand. Once they're in the library, every project in that team can use them, and you can add costs and custom properties to each type.
Before you start
Team libraries are available on the Organization and Enterprise plans.
Install Snaptrude Manager for Revit (see Install Snaptrude Manager for Revit). When the Manager offers an update inside Revit, click Update, then Install Update, so you export with the latest Manager. Close all Revit windows when prompted so the update can install.
You need access to the team whose library you want to add the wall types to.
Open a Revit project that contains every wall type you want to bring in. You can draw one wall of each type in a Revit project, or use an existing project that already has all of them.
How Revit wall types come into Snaptrude
Each imported wall type keeps its construction layers from Revit, such as the structural layer and any finish layers, along with each layer's thickness. Construction layers map 1:1 between Snaptrude and Revit.
In Snaptrude, a wall's thickness in the Properties panel is the sum of its construction layers. If you change a wall's thickness or push-pull one of its long faces, only the structure layer changes; if a type has more than one structure layer, the change is split between them proportionally. The finish layers stay as defined in the type.
Export wall types from Revit to a team library
In Revit, open the project that contains your wall types.
Open Snaptrude Manager and select Export to Snaptrude.
Choose the team whose library should receive the wall types.
Click Done. A new browser tab opens in Snaptrude and the import begins.
When the import is ready, open the list of wall types detected in the Revit project.
Select the wall types you want to add to the library, or click Select All to add every one. A wall type that already exists in the library has its checkbox grayed out.
Click Save to add the selected wall types to the team library.
Note: Objects that are hidden in Revit's 3D view don't import. If a wall type doesn't appear in the detected list, make sure at least one wall of that type is placed and visible in the project before you export.
Find your imported wall types
Go to the team's Libraries.
Open the walls section. Your imported wall types are listed alongside the default types, such as Generic Wall.
Select a wall type to see its construction layers and their thicknesses.
Assign units and cost to a wall type
In the team library, select the wall type.
Choose the currency for the library's costs, if you haven't already.
Enter the construction cost, and the demolition cost if you need it.
Choose how the cost is calculated: by area, by volume or by running length, depending on the wall type.
When you open a project in that team, the construction cost of walls using this type is calculated from these values.
Add a property to a wall type
In the team library, select the wall type.
Add a new property and give it a value.
The property is assigned to walls of that type directly from the library.
Rename, duplicate or delete a wall type
In the team library, right-click the wall type.
Choose Rename, Duplicate or Delete.
Tip: Duplicate a type before you change its costs or properties if you want to keep the original as well.
Use the wall types in a project
Once saved, the wall types are available to use in all projects of that team.
Troubleshooting
A wall type's checkbox is grayed out: that wall type already exists in the library.
A wall type is missing from the detected list: check that a wall of that type is placed in the Revit project and visible in the 3D view.
The Manager won't export: check that you're on the latest version of Snaptrude Manager.
Thickness looks different from Revit: check the construction layers in the library. The wall's total thickness is the sum of its layers.
