This guide explains how to select multiple objects on Snaptrude using marquee selection, the right-click Filter Select menu, and contextual "Same …" options. Multi-selecting objects can help temporarily group them to move, rotate, copy, isolate, hide, lock, or edit them simultaneously.
Marquee Selection
1. Left to Right Selection: Drag the mouse from left to right to select objects. This method selects all elements fully enclosed within the selection box.
2. Right to Left Selection: Drag the mouse from right to left for a different type of selection. This method selects all elements that intersect, even partially, with the selection box.
Filter Select from the right-click context menu
Filter Select is available directly from the right-click context menu, including on an empty canvas. Right-click to open the menu and choose Filter Select to open three top-level options:
By Story — select across specific stories.
By Object — select by object class, with an added ability to scope by space type.
By Tag — select across multiple tag values and categories at once.
Selections follow OR logic: picking options from multiple buckets returns anything matching at least one criterion. Locked objects remain uneditable; hidden objects stay hidden.
Contextual "Same …" menu
With an object selected, the right-click menu extends to show contextual selection shortcuts based on that object's properties:
Same Label — select every object sharing the selected label.
Same Type — select every object of the same type.
Same Tags — select every object carrying the same tag values.
Same Instances — select every instance of the same source object.
Options only appear where they apply to the selected object.
Filter and Storey Selection (selection-arrow dropdown)
Click on the dropdown beside the selection arrow to find the options for 'Filter & Storey selection'.
1. Filter Selection: Under the filter selection, you will see a list of all components & files which you can check to select in the project. You can also check multiple items in the list to select them together. The list of elements varies between Design and BIM mode filters. For example, spaces are only available in the filter selection when using Design mode.
2. Story Selection: Story selection lists all the storeys/levels that have been created in the model. You can select the storey(s) you want to work with from the selection list here.
Pro-tip: Combine the right-click Filter Select → By Story and By Tag in a single action to return every tagged object on the chosen stories — for example, everything tagged Phase 2 on Levels 03–05. The selection is applied together, and you can isolate, hide, lock, group, or edit the result as a single set.
You can then isolate, hide, lock, group or edit these elements as needed.
Note: Other ways of multiselecting objects include using Ctrl or Cmd key: Holding down the Ctrl (on Windows) or Cmd (on Mac) and clicking each object you want to multiselect.
