Once your massing model is created with spaces, you can directly convert it into a BIM model, complete with walls, slab, floors, and more. This BIM model can then be detailed with materials, doors, windows & furniture with the model data intact including areas, BOQ & costing.
Start by selecting the massing model to convert to BIM model. Next, navigate to the automate tab.
Define presets for walls, slabs, floors, and ceilings
Step 1: Start by selecting the external walls type. Choose from the default Snaptrude wall types (or if the project is a part of a team, you can select from the wall types added to the team library). The settings for the chosen wall type will adjust accordingly. For instance, selecting exposed concrete will set the wall thickness to 200 mm by default.
Step 2: After selecting the wall type, adjust the wall thickness settings if necessary
Step 3: Similarly, define the internal walls & parapet walls.
Step 4: Next, select the slab type from the drop down. Adjust the slab thickness, plinth height, and overhang if needed.
Step 5: By default, floors are selected as tiles. The floor thickness can be edited if required.
Step 6: Lastly, click on the 'Create Building' button in the 'Automate' tab.
Once the selected mass is converted into a BIM model, it will automatically apply the predefined wall, slab, and floor presets. The resulting elements are fully parametric, allowing for easy selection and modification as needed. Furthermore, the space labels are converted to floor labels which is reflected in the Areas tab. With the BIM model in place, you can begin detailing it further using various design tools, adding materials, doors, windows, and furniture as required.
