What’s new

Wall types

Create buildings of all types, defining custom construction properties for walls. You can set external, internal and parapet walls to be of a specific type in Project Properties. Wall thickness is dependent on wall type. Wall types include:

Once set, click on Create Building and walls are generated with thickness and material based on type. This allows you to customise your walls based on building type. For example, you may use wood stud walls in residences, or you can use glass curtain walls externally and masonry walls internally in an office building. 

You can change the type of specific walls, for example concrete lift cores, by selecting the walls and changing the type in Object Properties. Wall thickness is updated based on the type. You can manually overwrite it using the Move tool or using Object Properties. BoQ is updated automatically by material as well.


Drawing rooms with internal dimensions

You can now draw by specifying room internal dimensions, i.e., clear wall to wall dimensions. To do this, in Project Properties, turn the Enable Internal Dimensions toggle On. Set the properties for internal and external wall thicknesses. 

Use the draw tool and draw, numerically specifying room internal dimensions. Once a room is enclosed, you’ll notice that the room centreline increases in size to account for wall thickness. Continue drawing, snapping to existing room corners and specifying dimensions, as needed. As more rooms are drawn, neighboring rooms dynamically adjust in size as some of their walls change from being external to internal. Snaptrude intelligently analyses the direction  in which a room should be extended, based on your drawing process. 

Note that the massing drawing always represents the centreline drawing, and the correct extents of your building. Snaptrude auto detects if the walls of a room are external or internal, and updates centreline dimensions accordingly. This ensures that the model doesn’t suddenly increase in size, nor do rooms decrease in size, when wall thicknesses are added on Create Building. 

Once the centreline massing drawing is complete, click on Create Building. Walls and slabs are generated and rooms’ internal wall to wall dimensions remain preserved as per your inputs. 


Sunpath diagram

We’ve added 3 dimensional sunpath diagrams, to help you put sustainability at the centre of your design. Visualising the sun path in 3D helps your clients more easily understand your design decisions. Click on the sunpath button to turn on the sun path visualisation for your site’s location. Get accurate insights for your project by setting the project North direction. 


Setting project north

You can now set the North direction for your project by simply rotating the site topography. Project North is rotated by the same angle. Keep your model orthogonal, orientation of the sun and sunpath diagram will be updated accordingly.


What we improved

Comments updated in real time

Do away with needing to save design images and compressing heavy models for sharing on email. Our latest Comments update allows you to share the model URL with team members and get feedback in real time. Comment, reply and resolve issues from within the modelling environment.


AutoCad Import

We’ve made improvements to the user experience during AutoCad import. A progress bar and message have been added, to indicate the status of the upload. You can also cancel an upload after the AutoCad file has been dropped into the dropzone. We’ve enabled deletion on previously uploaded AutoCad drawings.




  • Object auto classification of columns, in some cases.
