This tutorial covers shadow analysis to understand how surrounding buildings impact your project.
Step 1: Navigate to the Sustainability tab.
Step 2: Select the Shadows option from the dropdown menu.
Note: Topography is required to conduct this analysis. Follow these steps to import topography:
Click "Import Topography" from the sustainability tab – This will open the import window for adding site topography.
Enter Site Details – Input the site name or enter latitude and longitude coordinates.
(Optional) Add Surrounding Buildings – Include nearby structures for a more detailed context. This will enhance the shadow analysis.
Click "Load Topography" – The system will import the site context into the project.
Once imported, move and position the site as needed in relation to your model.
Step 7: Adjust the month, date, and time for the analysis.
Step 8: Click on Run Analysis to see the results for your site. You can adjust these settings to see how different conditions affect the shadows cast by surrounding buildings.
Pro-tip: To better understand the path of the sun and how it affects the shadows, turn on the Sun Path Diagram.
