Moving Objects in Snaptrude

Updated over 2 weeks ago

There are two ways to move objects around on Snaptrude:

  1. Move Tool

  2. Select to move

Move tool

The move tool, located in the top toolbar in the Design and BIM modes, is a handy feature for relocating objects, applicable in both 2D and 3D views. Follow these steps to move any elements added to a Snaptrude project, including imported files, spaces, walls, slabs, doors, windows, etc.

Moving Spaces in Design Mode

Step 1: From the top toolbar select Move. Alternatively, use M as a shortcut key.

Once the move tool is activated, snapping points will appear at each vertex, edge, and face of the space you wish to move.

Step 2: Use the left mouse button to select the desired snapping point and drag the mouse in the direction you want to move the space.

Pro tip: Use the arrow keys to lock the axis of movement in X, Y or Z direction.

Step 3: Left-click at the destination or manually enter the distance for more accuracy. Press Enter to move the space to the new location.

Note: To move multiple spaces, use the control or command keys to select all the spaces you want to move. Alternatively, for large scale, selection use the rectangle marque tool or filter selection, then, repeat the steps above to move the selected spaces together.

Moving BIM elements

All BIM elements including wall, slabs, floor, roof, ceiling, furniture, door, window, and stairs can be moved in the BIM mode using the move tool. As an example, let's look at how to move furniture.

Step 1: First select the furniture elements you'd like to move. (Use the rectangular marquee tool or ctrl/cmd to multi-select the objects together.)

Step 2: Select the 'Move' tool in the top toolbar of the BIM mode or Press M on your keyboard as a shortcut.

Step 3: Click on one of the points from where the objects need to be moved.

Pro-tip: Lock the axis using the arrow keys on the keyboard to restrict the movement direction.

Step 4: Either manually enter the distance or move the mouse freehand to move the objects to the new location. Additionally, you can snap and align to nearby objects for precise placement.
