Learn how to import your Excel data directly into Snaptrude’s Program Mode—retaining sheets, layout, formatting, and formulas while eliminating the need for manual setup. Whether you’re working with large multi-tab building programs (such as floors, phases, or departments) or part of a team that needs to preserve the structure, logic, and presentability of original data, this feature makes it faster and easier to bring your existing program into Snaptrude.
Importing the Excel File
Open Program Mode in Snaptrude.
Go to the File menu and select Import Excel.
Choose your
.xlsx
or.csv
file to start the import process.Snaptrude automatically creates custom sheets in the same order and with the same names as in the source file.
Once your Excel data is imported, Snaptrude treats it as part of your project, so you don’t need to re-import each time.
Note:
The imported custom sheets are saved with your project and they are also carried over when duplicating the project, ensuring consistency across versions.
At any time, you can use @interpret command on the imported sheets to convert to Program Data Sheet to continue working with them inside the Snaptrude environment.
Importing files over 3MB can take slightly longer to process.
What’s preserved during import:
Multiple Sheets
Every sheet from the source file is imported as a separate sheet in Program Mode, preserving order and names.
Formatting
Cell styling (background colors, fonts, merged cells, borders)
Row heights and column widths
Hidden sheets are imported as visible—hidden rows and columns remain hidden.
Formula Support
Most formulas import accurately, and cross-sheet references are maintained.
Note:
MULTIPLY(num1, num2)
—only supported by Excel—is not supported. Use the asterisk operator (*
) instead.
Pro-tips:
Clean and organize your Excel file before importing—remove any extra sheets and correct broken formulas.
Give meaningful names to your sheets to keep your Program Mode well-organized.
Double-check formulas post-import and adjust any that show errors or formatting issues.
Known Limitations
Drag-and-drop into AI Chat in Program Mode supports only PDFs, not Excel files. To import Excel, use the project name dropdown menu instead.
Unsupported or broken formulas may produce a
#REF!
error. You’ll need to correct these after import.Formatting like data types, percentages, commas, and decimals may not transfer perfectly—you might need to reapply formatting manually after import.
