AI Adjacency

Updated today

AI Adjacency in Snaptrude automates adjacency analysis and layout generation, helping you arrange spaces and departments faster while improving design accuracy. It automatically computes relationships between spaces when creating programs via AI, CSV import, or Interpret, and lets you arrange or pack layouts while ensuring adjacency rules are maintained.

There are three types of adjacencies:

  • Strong β†’ spaces must be directly beside each other.

  • Indirect β†’ spaces should be nearby, not necessarily touching

  • Restricted β†’ spaces must not be placed next to each other

Once the adjacencies are defined, use 'Arrange & Pack' options to automatically position or cluster spaces/departments.

Viewing and Computing Adjacencies

1. Program Mode:

  • Spaces created in Program Mode automatically have adjacencies computed.

  • To view them, go to Design Mode and click on Adjacency.

2. Manually Created Spaces:

  • Open the Adjacency tab in Design Mode.

  • From the dropdown, select Spaces, Departments, or Spaces and Departments.

  • Click Compute to generate adjacencies.

Editing Adjacencies

  • Enable/disable Contact Adjacencies to form new adjacencies by moving spaces closer. Once contact adjacency is enabled, just hover one space over another to create the adjacency.

  • Delete adjacencies: Manually delete adjacency lines by selecting it and press 'Delete' on the keyboard

Editing Adjacencies

  • Delete unwanted adjacencies.

  • Enable/disable Contact Adjacencies to form or prevent new adjacencies by moving spaces closer.

Arranging Adjacencies

  • Automatically arranges spaces/departments so adjacency requirements are resolved.

  • Works for entire projects or selected sets.

  • Larger selections may take longer to arrange.
