Right-Click Context Menu

Updated today

Overview

Snaptrude now supports a right-click context menu on the empty canvas, giving you faster access to commonly used global actions directly under your cursor. Instead of relying on keyboard shortcuts or toolbar navigation, you can right-click anywhere on empty space to instantly access frequently used commands.

Right-clicking on an empty canvas (with no objects selected) opens a context menu with the following categories of actions:

Navigation — Show all objects or zoom to model extents

Selection — Select previous or select all objects

Editing — Undo and Redo recent actions

Collaboration — Add a comment directly from the canvas

Workflow — Re-run recent commands or paste with options

Navigation

Show All

Instantly frames all visible geometry in the workspace. Use this when you need to get a full view of your model quickly.

Zoom Extents (Shift + Z)

Zooms directly to the full extent of your model. Useful for reorienting yourself after navigating deep into a design.

Selection

Select Previous

Restores the most recent object selection if it was accidentally cleared. Snaptrude will also navigate the camera to the selected object in both 2D and 3D views.

Select All (Ctrl + A)

Selects every object in the current view. Equivalent to pressing Ctrl+A on your keyboard.

Editing

Undo / Redo

Quickly revert or restore recent actions without reaching for keyboard shortcuts. These options appear at the top of the context menu for fast access.

Collaboration

Add Comment

Start a comment directly from the canvas to collaborate with teammates. Clicking this option opens the comment panel anchored to your cursor position.

Workflow Efficiency

Recent Commands

Quickly re-run the last three commands you executed. This makes repetitive workflows faster without needing to re-navigate menus each time.

Paste Options

When pasting copied objects within the same project, Snaptrude shows expanded Paste As options in the right-click menu:

Paste as Instance (Ctrl + V) — Creates a linked copy — changes to the source affect all instances

Paste as Unique (Ctrl + Alt + V) — Creates an independent copy with no link to the original

Note: If the copied objects come from a different project, the standard Paste behavior is used instead.

New Project Workflow

In a brand-new project with no objects yet, the right-click context menu shows a different set of options tailored to getting started:

Quick Start — Guided prompts to begin modeling

Import File — Bring in an existing design file

Watch Tutorials — Open the Snaptrude tutorial library

Help Docs — Navigate to the help documentation

Faster Object Context Menu

You can now right-click directly on any object to open its context menu — without needing to select it first.

Previously, objects had to be selected first and then right-clicked. This update makes object interactions faster and more consistent with standard design tool workflows.
