Camera Walkthroughs

Draw a camera path through your model, play and edit it, export it as an MP4 video, and add it to Present Mode.

Camera walkthroughs let you draw a camera path through your model, play it back, and export it as an MP4 video. Use them to show a client how a space feels from the inside, or send a walkthrough to Present Mode with Add to Present.

Before you start

  • You draw walkthroughs on the canvas in Design Mode with the Walkthrough button in the bottom-right corner of the screen.

  • Set up the model the way you want it to appear in the video first, for example by hiding objects you don't want to show. See Edit and Save 2D & 3D Views.

Draw a walkthrough

  1. Open your project in Design Mode.

  2. Click Walkthrough (draw a camera route) in the bottom-right corner of the canvas.

  3. Draw the route you want the camera to follow through the model, for example from the entrance through the lobby and into the main hall.

  4. Finish the path where you want the camera to stop.

Play a walkthrough

Play the walkthrough to preview the camera moving along the path. Preview before exporting so you can catch awkward turns or points where the camera passes through a wall.

Edit a walkthrough

  1. Adjust the path so the camera avoids an obstruction or frames a space better.

  2. Play the walkthrough again to check the result.

If you make a change you don't want, undo it with Ctrl + Z (Cmd + Z on Mac). Drawing and editing walkthroughs both support undo.

Export a walkthrough as MP4

Export the walkthrough to save it as an MP4 video file. You can share the MP4 directly or use it in presentation software outside Snaptrude.

Note: An exported MP4 is a fixed file. If you change the design afterwards, export the walkthrough again to get an up-to-date video.

Add a walkthrough to Present Mode

  1. Click Add to Present for the walkthrough.

  2. Switch to Present Mode to use it in your presentation. See Creating & Editing Sheets.

Tips

  • Hide objects you don't need before exporting so the video stays focused on the design.

  • Play the walkthrough after every edit; it is quicker to fix the path than to re-export a video.

  • You can also move the camera on the canvas with the arrow keys. Turn this on or off with Arrow-key navigation in Settings (gear icon, bottom-left).
