Using the Rotate Tool
Updated over a week ago

Rotating A Space/BIM Object

  1. To rotate a space on Snaptrude, choose the Rotate tool (Q) from the design tab.

  2. Hover the cursor over the edge, vertex or the face of the object you want to rotate, these snap points will turn yellow (and green when the midpoint is selected). This point will act as the axis of rotation.

  3. Next click on the other point to define the line of rotation.

  4. Move your cursor to the desired angle that appears while rotating, alternatively, you can also enter the numerical value of the angle.

  5. Finally, hit enter to complete the process

The same action can also be done in the 3D View as well, as shown below.

Pro-tip: Objects while rotating can also be snapped to nearby objects for precision.

Rotating Multiple Spaces/BIM Objects

To Rotate a group of spaces or objects, hold the shift key on your keyboard and click on the masses/objects you want to select. Alternatively, you can use the selection box to select multiple masses as well. Click and hold the left mouse button and drag the red selection box across the objects you want to select.

Now, follow similar steps mentioned above to rotate the objects.

Note:

  1. Rooms and walls can only be rotated in the vertical axis.

  2. Protractor is colour coded for axis alignment, i.e., it changes colour with respect to the axis it is used to rotate the object in (Colours include: Red - X, Green - Y, Blue - Z).

  3. Rotation possible for all masses, BIM elements, and furniture.
