Placing and Editing Staircases on Snaptrude

This tutorial provides a step-by-step guide on how to place and customize staircases in a project using Snaptrude.

Updated this week

Snaptrude projects come with a default staircase library offering a wide range of options to choose from. These staircases are fully parametric, allowing you to easily modify various parameters such as height, flight width, riser height, tread width, etc. directly from the object properties tab. Placing and editing staircases in Snaptrude is an intuitive and seamless process, enabling designers to focus on their work without the hassle of complicated adjustments.

Placing Staircases

Step 1: Access the staircase library. Browse through the default list of staircases and different categories in the library.

Step 2: Choose the desired type of staircase from the library. Place the selected staircase directly into the model.

Note: Staircases can be placed in both 3D & 2D views.

Customizing Staircases

1. Adjusting Stair Height: By default, staircases align to the storey height, meaning the staircase height equals the storey height. To edit the height of the staircase, unlock it using the lock button as shown below. Enter a new height to change the staircase height.

Note: To align it back to the storey height, click on the lock button.

2. Editing Object Properties: Make adjustments to the staircase by modifying its properties in the object properties tab. You can edit parameters such as the number of steps, riser height, tread width, flight width, landing depth, etc. For example, to modify the flight width, simply input the desired value, and the stair will adjust accordingly. Similarly, you can update the well width and other parameters directly from the object properties tab to customize the staircase.

3. Other Modifications: Make further adjustments using the rotate, flip, move options, and more. For e.g., to change the staircase orientation, use the flip option.

4. Copying Staircases across Storeys: To copy the staircase across all levels, click the plus sign in the storey tab. Enter the desired number of copies, then click 'Copy Selection Above'. Alternatively, you can use the shortcut keys, Ctrl + Up arrow, to quickly copy the staircase to the levels above. To copy the staircase to the levels below, repeat the process using the same steps.

Note: Stairs automatically adjust to the height of the storey it is on. If you change the storey height after placing the stairs, click the lock button to adjust the staircase to the new storey height.
