Import Program Data

In this tutorial, you'll learn how to import a excel file containing your program brief into Snaptrude. This process allows you to efficiently convert structured data into spaces, continue editing the program in the program mode and thus streamlining the transition from program requirements to design.

Download Template Excel File

Step 1: Navigate to the Import tab from the project name dropdown menu

Step 2: Select 'Program Data' from the Import window

Step 3: Under the program data, locate & download the template xlsx file.

Filling in Template File

Open the downloaded file.
The Excel file already has all the guidelines required to input data in the following fields:

  1. The area unit is the unit of the area you wish to define your spaces in

  2. The Space is the name of the room you want for your project

  3. Area per unit is the area of each space

  4. Count is the number of masses/spaces you want for the respective room

  5. Enter Department to categorize similar spaces together

  6. Other metadata such as Height, Width, Storey and Notes can also be added in here.

Note: Label, Area per space & Count columns are mandatory to be filled for a successful import

Import Template Excel File

Step 1: Browse and select the Excel file from your system. Or drag and drop the file.

Step 2: If you've uploaded the wrong file, click on the cross sign to remove it and upload the correct file. Finally, click on Import.

The spaces are successfully created in design mode, the area dashboard automatically updates with the space data, while the program mode of the project populates with the imported program data.

Edit in Program Mode

Upon successful import, the imported Excel data can be further modified in program mode. The space labels, target areas, counts, departments, and other metadata related to the spaces can be edited here.
