Team Library: Materials, Furniture, Families and Costs

Set up your team's shared Library: upload materials and furniture, import families, add custom properties, categories and costs.

Your team's Library is a shared, central catalogue of materials, furniture, doors, windows and families that everyone on the team can use in their projects. Set it up once, with your own textures, models, costs and custom properties, and every project in the team draws on the same standards.

Before you start

  • Team Libraries are available on the Organization and Enterprise plans.

  • You need the source files ready: texture images for materials, and model files (for example .skp, .obj or .fbx) for furniture. Revit families (.rfa) are imported as families.

Open your team's Library

  1. From your dashboard, open the team you want to manage.

  2. Open the team's Library.

  3. Pick a tab, for example Materials, Furniture or Families.

  4. To find an item quickly, use the search filter.

Each tab shows its items as a table. Columns hold the default properties for that item type; for materials these include texture, material name, material type, U and V scale, angle, opacity and cost.

Upload materials

  1. Open the Materials tab.

  2. Click Upload materials.

  3. Drag and drop one or more texture files into the window, or browse for them on your computer.

  4. Choose a category for the material.

  5. Click Upload Material.

  6. In the table, edit the new material's name, cost, description and other properties.

Upload furniture

  1. Open the Furniture tab.

  2. Click Upload Furniture.

  3. Drag and drop one or more model files into the window, or browse for them.

  4. Choose a room category.

  5. Edit the item's properties directly in the table columns.

Doors and windows have their own tabs and are built as families; see "Doors, windows, stairs and ramps" below.

Import families

The Families section holds Parametric Components, including Revit families imported from .rfa files. Their parameters behave like they do in Revit, and any other Revit parameters sit under a Revit Parameters section.

  1. Open the Families section of the team Library.

  2. Click Import Family.

  3. Select the .rfa file to import.

Note: Parametric Components that the Snaptrude Agent creates in a team project are added to the team Library automatically. You can make these components public from the team Library.

Doors, windows, stairs and ramps

Team Libraries have separate Doors, Windows, Stairs and Ramps tabs. Each tab has category filters and loads more items as you scroll.

  1. Open the tab for the object type you need.

  2. Use the category filters to narrow the list.

  3. Scroll to load more items.

Note: Doors and windows are built on the family system. Older-style doors and windows from earlier projects aren't supported and don't appear in the Doors or Windows tabs; you can still find them in the Families section by filtering by category.

Set the currency for costs

The team Library has a currency picker, so the costs you enter for library items use the currency your team works in.

  1. Open the team Library.

  2. Use the currency picker to choose your currency (for example, Rupee).

  3. Enter or review costs in each item's cost column.

Add a custom property

Add your own properties, such as a supplier, product code or fire rating, to any library table.

  1. In the tab you want to extend, click Add new property.

  2. Enter the property name.

  3. Select the property type.

  4. Click Add property. The new property appears as a column.

  5. To edit or delete it later, right-click the column name and choose the action.

Note: Custom properties added in the Library show up in the Properties panel when team members work in a project, but they can only be edited here in the Library.

Add a category

  1. Click the dropdown in the category column (material type or room category) for any item.

  2. Click + Add Type.

  3. Enter the category details to create it.

  4. Assign the category to other items from the same dropdown.

Tip: Before deleting a category, reassign any items that use it.

Rename, duplicate or delete an item

  1. Right-click the item's name.

  2. Choose rename, duplicate or delete from the menu.

Update the Library from a CSV file

If your library tab shows an Upload CSV button, you can update many items' properties at once.

  1. Click Upload CSV.

  2. Download the sample CSV. Its columns match the library's properties.

  3. Edit the properties in the CSV and save it.

  4. Drag and drop the edited file into the upload window, or browse for it.

  5. Click Upload CSV to apply the changes.
