Snaptrude Manager is a Revit add-in that connects Revit to Snaptrude. You need it to send Revit models to Snaptrude with Export to Snaptrude, to bring Snaptrude models back into Revit, to import Revit families, and to import Revit files too large to upload directly. This article covers installing it, signing in, and keeping it up to date.
Note: Rhino uses a separate add-in, Snaptrude Manager for Rhino. This article covers the Revit add-in only.
Before you start
Revit import and export are available on the Pro, Organization and Enterprise plans. They aren't available on Free or Starter.
You need Revit installed on your computer and permission to run installers. If your organization restricts software installs, ask your IT team for help.
The installer lists every Revit version it detects on your computer.
Close every open Revit window before you install or update. The installer shows an error and asks you to close Revit if an instance is still running.
Note: You don't always need the Manager to bring a Revit model into Snaptrude. You can upload an .rvt file of up to 150 MB directly with Direct Revit Import. For larger files, or files with no rooms, use Snaptrude Manager.
Download and install Snaptrude Manager
Open any project in Snaptrude, click the project name and choose Import.
Click the Revit Files (via Snaptrude Plugin) tile.
Click Download Snaptrude Manager and save the installer.
Close all open Revit windows.
Double-click the downloaded installer to start the installation wizard.
Select the Revit versions you want to use with Snaptrude Manager. The wizard detects the versions installed on your computer.
Click Next and follow the remaining steps in the wizard to finish the installation.
Tip: If the upload page tells you a Revit file is too large to import directly, it shows a link to Snaptrude Manager. You can follow that link to get the Manager.
Load the add-in in Revit
Open Revit.
When Revit asks whether to load Snaptrude Manager, click Always load. Revit then loads the add-in every time it starts, without asking again.
Sign in to Snaptrude Manager
In Revit, open Snaptrude Manager.
Click Login to Snaptrude. Snaptrude opens in a new browser tab.
Sign in to Snaptrude in the browser if you aren't already signed in.
When the browser asks, click Open Snaptrude Manager to return to Revit signed in.
Note: Allow pop-ups for Snaptrude in your browser. A pop-up blocker can stop the sign-in from completing.
Sign out
In Snaptrude Manager, click your username to open the menu.
Click Log out.
Update Snaptrude Manager
When a newer version is available, Snaptrude Manager shows an update prompt inside Revit as you open it. You don't need to uninstall the old version first. Snaptrude's Revit features are updated through the Manager, so some features, such as Direct Revit Export, need an up-to-date Manager.
Open Snaptrude Manager in Revit.
In the update prompt, click Update. The Manager downloads the update.
If the download fails, click Retry.
When the download is complete, click Install Update.
Close all open Revit windows when prompted so the installation can finish.
Reopen Revit, open Snaptrude Manager and sign in again.
Skip an update
Click Skip for Later to keep using your current version for now. Running an older version can cause problems with import and export quality, and features that need a newer Manager may not work. When an update is mandatory, Skip for Later may not appear.
Troubleshooting
The installer says Revit is running: Close every Revit window, including other Revit versions, then run the installer again.
Sign-in fails or never returns to Revit: Check that your browser isn't blocking pop-ups from Snaptrude. On a company network, ask your IT team to allow (whitelist) the Snaptrude Manager APIs.
A Revit import or export feature doesn't work as described: Check for a Manager update and install the latest version.
The installer is blocked: Security software or company policy may stop the installer from running. Ask your IT team to approve Snaptrude Manager instead of turning off your security software.
