View Settings in Present Mode control how plan views and auto-diagrams look on your sheets: line color, weight and type, fill color and opacity, diagram shape, label fonts and dimension styles. Use them to make presentation-ready drawings inside Snaptrude without changing the model or reworking the output in another tool.
Before you start
View Settings work on SVG-based plan views (concept models made of spaces) and on auto-diagrams (diagrams created from the Auto Diagram dropdown in the Present Mode toolbar, such as Program and Adjacency diagrams). They don't apply to 3D views, elevations or other raster images.
Views that contain BIM elements are raster views. Their dimensions and individual text can still be styled, but line and fill categories apply to SVG views.
Everything you change here is presentation-only. It doesn't change the model or how objects look in Design Mode.
Open View Settings
Switch to Present Mode.
On a sheet, click a plan view or an auto-diagram to select it.
The View Settings appear in the right-hand panel. If the panel is closed, hover over the right edge of the screen to open it.
Note: Settings apply only to the selected view or views. If you select several views, a change applies only to the views that contain that category of object.
Understand the object categories
View Settings group the objects in a view into categories. Each category has its own line, fill and opacity settings.
Category | What it controls |
Site | The site object |
Topography | Terrain and neighborhood buildings |
Room | Spaces with the Room space type, including non-story-height spaces such as terraces and balconies |
Program Block | Spaces with the Program Block space type |
Envelope | Spaces with the Envelope space type (buildable envelopes and building massing shapes) |
Facade / Mass | Facades, mass furniture, pergolas, generic masses and buildings |
Reference Lines | All visible reference lines in the view |
Adjacency Lines | Lines in adjacency diagrams |
Site elements | Trees, parking stalls and site-type spaces such as plots, gardens, lawns, ponds, pools, walkways and pavements |
Note: In older projects and older documentation, Site elements was called Landscape element.
Change line styles
Select the view and click the category you want to style.
Set the line color.
Set the line weight.
Choose a line type, such as solid or dashed. For dashed types you can adjust the dash length.
Cut and projection line weights
Rooms, Program Blocks and Facade / Mass objects can use different line weights for cut and projection edges. The cut plane is 1800 mm (6 ft) above the base of the story:
Objects that pass through the cut plane use the cut line weight.
Objects entirely below it use the projection line weight.
Change fill color and opacity
Select the view.
Choose a Color mode: Monochrome, Texture, Department or any tag category in the project (for example, Phase, Building or Option).
For each category, drag the Opacity slider to set how transparent its fill is.
Each saved view remembers its tag-based color mode. If you later delete that tag category, the view switches to Department color the next time it updates.
Note: The final opacity in Present Mode combines two settings. The Space Type opacity, set in the Properties panel, applies to every object of that space type across the project. The Opacity slider in View Settings is applied on top of it, for that view only. The Envelope category starts at 30% opacity.
Change the diagram style of spaces
Select the view and click Room or Program Block.
Choose a style: Block, Rounded Rectangle or Bubble.
For rounded styles, adjust the corner radius and the spacing (inset) between neighboring shapes. Rooms and Program Blocks have separate radius and inset settings.
For auto-diagram sheets, click the sheet itself rather than the spaces or departments inside it. Adjacency diagrams offer all three styles.
Show or hide topography
If a view includes topography, select the Topography category to hide or show the terrain and neighborhood buildings, or to change their opacity.
Change label visibility and fonts
Text settings apply to labels and to tags and metrics (area and department) on spaces, site elements and departments.
Select the view or views you want to change. You can select several views and edit them together.
Under Visibility, choose which text to show: no text, labels only, labels with area or department, or all.
Open the Font dropdown and pick a font. The list previews each font, and you can search it. Views use Arial by default.
Set the Font Style, such as bold or italic.
Set the Font Size, from extra small to large.
You can set the font, style and size separately for labels and for tags and metrics.
Edit individual text
Select a single text item in a view. A text toolbar appears.
Change its font size or style.
To undo your overrides, click the reset button to return the text to the view's settings.
In raster views (views with BIM elements), edit text this way, one item at a time. To change text color or alignment (left, center, right), drag a selection box around the text and use the color panel on the right.
Note: Text changes on one auto-diagram apply to all auto-diagrams in the same set.
Style dimensions
Dimensions you add in Design Mode appear in Present Mode plan views, in both SVG and raster views. They appear only in plans, not in 3D views or elevations. By default, dimension text is 2 mm Arial, lines are 0.09 mm, and both are black.
Select the view and open the Dimension Lines settings.
Click the eye icon next to Dimension Lines to show or hide dimensions in the view.
Set the line color and weight.
Set the font, font style and font size.
If you change dimensions in Design Mode, use Update View to refresh a single view, or click Update all views in the Views tab of the left panel to refresh every view. Your dimension styles are kept after an update. The dimension settings also include a Reset View option.
How settings are saved and shared
Changes are live, and collaborators see them in real time.
Settings are kept when you save, use Save As, reload, create a template or update a view.
Duplicating or copy-pasting a view keeps its settings.
Regenerating diagrams or updating views keeps the settings you applied.
Custom styles are kept in PDF, PNG and JPG exports.
