Applying materials on an Object
Snaptrude features a comprehensive built-in library of materials and allows users to import custom materials. Materials can be applied to Walls, Slabs, Flooring, Rooms, Beams, Columns, Spaces and different types of Masses. Moreover, these materials are all accounted for in the BOQ. To apply a material to an object:
Open the Materials tab (Shortcut ‘B’) on the right panel
Browse through the categories & select the material you want by clicking on its thumbnail or using the search bar to find the material texture.
Finally, click on the object(s) to apply the material.
Applying materials on a surface
If you want to apply materials to just a surface of a wall or slab, turn the Material by Face toggle on, click on the material, and then click on the surface of the wall or slab you want to apply to.
Pro tip:
1. You can use the Split Face tool to split a wall, column, floor, or slab face into parts and then apply different materials to each part. For example, to apply tiling up to a specific height, you can use the Split Face tool to divide the wall at the desired material boundary. Then, use the Material by Face option to assign the appropriate material to each section.
2. Use by face to apply material on door, window, and furniture.
Pick Materials using “Eyedropper”
If you want to select a material from the model without searching, use the "Eyedropper" tool in the Material tab. Once you've identified the material you want to use from the model, follow these steps to apply the same material elsewhere.
Open the Materials tab (Shortcut ‘B’)
Click on the “Eyedropper” tool
Pick the element on which the material is present
Finally, click on the element on which you wish to apply this material
Remove material from an Object.
If you wish to remove the material applied to an object, use the “Remove Material” tool.
Open the Materials tab (Shortcut ‘B’)
Click on the “Remove Material” icon
Click on the element in the model from which you wish to remove the material.
Duplicate a material
To duplicate a material, click on the material you want to copy and then choose the ‘Copy Material’ button from the bottom of the material tab.
Editing materials
Edit the scale, angle, opacity, and other parameters of the materials in the project library itself. This allows the user to get a real-time view of how the material will look upon applying it to the object and can quickly make changes on the go if required.
To edit a material, select it from the library, then click on the ‘Edit Material’ tool at the bottom of the Toolbar. Users can edit the following properties:
Opacity—On a scale of 0 to 1, change how transparent the material will be, with 0 being completely transparent and 1 being completely opaque.
uScale and vScale- Change the scale of the material in the u and v directions. This is used to change the size of the texture.
uOffset and vOffset- Position in the u and v directions of the material texture. This is used to change the location at which the texture starts on a surface.
Angle- Rotate the texture at an angle of your choice
Overlay - You can add a colour overlay to any material applied in the model. Click on the colour picker and choose the colour you want. You can also type the colour’s RGB value as RGB (250, 250, 250.)
After editing, click on the ‘Save Edits’ button.
