Central library creation (Pt.2) - Uploading Furniture, Door, & Window

Step-by-step guide on how to upload doors, windows, & furniture to a team library on Snaptrude.

Updated over 3 months ago

Adding Doors, Windows, and Furniture to the central library follows a similar process to uploading materials. However, users must ensure they have the required file formats, that is .skp, .obj, .fbx, .3ds for the Door, Window, and Furniture files directly. Additionally, you can add RFAs to the team library or import a Revit project to upload its components to the team library.

Uploading Furniture

Step 1: Open the respective team's library and open the 'Furniture' tab.

Image

Step 2: Click on 'Upload Furniture' button at the top right corner.

Image

Step 3: Add furniture files in SKP, 3DS, OBJ, or FBX formats. Browse files from the system or drag and drop them to the library. The import window will show a list of all the files you are importing. Then, select the furniture type from the dropdown. (If required, remove any file before uploading by clicking on the cross sign).

Image

Step 4: Finally, click on Upload Furniture to add them to the library.

Image

Step 5: Once the furniture is added, you can edit any of its properties from the displayed columns such as room, cost, description, etc.

Image

Step 6: If needed, assign furniture to more than one room type.

(Pro-tip: Here you can also change the room type for the furniture after uploading it.)

Image

Similarly to unassign a room type from the furniture, select it from the selection.

Image

Step 7: To create a new room type, click on 'Add New Room' from the room drop down. Enter the room name and click on Add New Room Type. Then, assign furniture to the newly created room type from the same drop-down.

Image

Step 8: To delete a custom room type, click on the cross sign. (Note that before deleting it, you must make sure no furniture is associated with it.)

Image

Step 9: Apart from the default parameters, if you wish to create a new property for furniture elements, click on Add New Property button at the top right corner. Type in the parameter name and select the type of the parameter from the dropdown list. Click on ‘Add property’ to include the new parameter.

Image

Step 10: Once the new parameter is added to the library, edit it as required. (To edit or delete the created property, right-click on it's header and click on either edit or delete.)

Image

Note: To rename, delete, or duplicate any furniture in the library, right-click on the name and select the desired action.

Uploading Doors & Windows

The process of uploading doors & windows to the team library is the same. Follow the steps below add doors to the library:

Step 1: Open the respective team's library and open the 'Door' tab. Then, click on Upload Doors.

Image

Step 2: Drag and drop the files here or browse from your system to upload. The import tab will show a list of all the files you are uploading. (If required, remove a particular door before uploading by clicking on the cross sign).

Image

Step 3: Next, choose the door type and specify the number of shutters for the door you're adding. Keep in mind that these settings can also be modified after the doors have been uploaded to the library.

Image

Note: It's important to correctly define the door type and shutter count in the library to ensure that the proper 2D annotations are assigned to the door when used in a project. The same principle applies when uploading windows to the library.

Step 4: Once the selection is finalized, click on 'Upload Doors'.

Image

Step 5: After the doors have been uploaded, edit the door name, door type, shutter count or add cost, manufacture details, and other descriptions to the door, including adding a new property if required.

Image

Note:

1. Follow the same steps to add windows.

2. To rename, delete, or duplicate any door or window in the library, right-click on the name and select the desired action.

3. All the property parameters added to the library here will also be visible to the user while the working with these components in a project. However, they can only edit these parameters from the central library here.

4. The cost added in the central library will reflect when the door, window, or furniture is used within the project. Hence, adding to the overall project cost.
