Managing Storeys on Snaptrude

This guide offers a detailed walkthrough on how to create and manage storeys/levels on Snaptrude.

Updated over a week ago

On Snaptrude, you can design multistorey models by utilizing Storeys. Learn how to create a new storey or copy an existing one, adjust storey height, and delete storeys.

Copying Existing Storeys

Copy existing storeys to create new ones which can either be 'Clone' or 'Unique' copies of the original storey.

  • Cloned storeys are identical storeys, i.e., when a room or element on one storey is edited, it is also edits all the other copies.

  • Unique storeys are copies that are the same when replicated, but elements can be edited independently without affecting each other.

I. Creating Cloned Storeys

Step 1: Start by either selecting elements to copy from the canvas or directly clicking on the β€œ+” icon in the storey tab, and toggle to "Copy". Enter the storey number to copy from.

Step 2: Choose the number of copies to make.

Image

Step 3: Toggle to "Clone" to make the copies identical.

Image

Step 4: Finally, click on "Copy storey above" to create copies of the existing floor.

Image

Step 5: Since the copies are identical, any edits made to one of the elements on a storey will be reflected in all the other copies as well.

Image

Note: Use the "Make Unique" option to change a clone copy to a unique copy.

II. Creating Unique Storeys

Step 1: Follow the same steps as above or select the elements of the storey you wish to copy by clicking on the arrow beside the respective storey and then clicking on the "Select all" button (as shown below).

Image

Step 2: Once the selection is done, click on the "+" sign on the storey tab.

Image

Step 3: Enter the number of copies you wish to create. Toggle to "Unique" before copying.

Image

The added storeys are non-identical and hence are not affected by any edits made to any of the copies.

III. Copying Selected Elements

You can also select and copy only a few elements of a storey to the above storeys by following the similar steps mentioned above.

Step 1: Start by selecting all the elements you wish to copy from the storey below. Then click on the "+" in the storey tab.

Image

Step 2: Enter the number of copies & select between "Clone" and "Unique". Finally, click on "Copy selection above" to copy these above.

Creating a Blank Storey

To create a blank storey, start by clicking on the "+" button on the storey tab. (Toggle from "Copy" to "Blank"). Enter the number of copies you wish to create and finally, click on "Create new storey above".

Image

The newly created storeys will be empty, allowing you to design them from scratch. This is particularly useful for creating non-typical floor layouts.

Note: Follow the same steps as above to create new or copied basement levels below.

Alternative Methods for Creating New Storeys

Using the Keyboard shortcut or right-click context menu: Select all the elements of the storey to copy. Then, press the "Ctrl+ up/down arrows" on your keyboard to copy these elements to new storeys. Alternatively, right click on the object(s) & in the context menu select "Duplicate Above/Below".

Using the 'Universal Search Bar': Use the universal search bar to find the respective command by typing the keywords. Select the respective option from the list to either add new storey/basement or duplicate existing elements above/below.

Changing Storey Height

By default, the all storeys are created at a height of 3000mm or 9' 10". This can be edited depending on the project requirements. Follow the steps below to edit the storey height:

Step 1: Click on the arrow beside the respective storey that you wish to edit.

Image

Step 2: Change the height directly. Objects within the storey adjust accordingly.

Image

Note: Storeys heights cannot be less than 2100mm or 6' 11".

Deleting Storeys

If there are any extra storeys that you wish to delete, follow the steps below:

Step 1: Click on the 'Ctrl' key on your keyboard and select the storey(s) to delete.

Image

Step 2: Hover over the topmost storey and click on the "Delete" option from the panel.

Note:

  1. Random or alternating selection of storeys doesn't allow for deletion. Storeys must be selected in a sequence starting from either the topmost storeys or the lowermost basement level.

  2. The default 'Storey 1' cannot be deleted.

  3. Once a storey is deleted, all associated objects within it will also be removed from the project.

  4. You can undo the deletion by pressing "Ctrl + Z" on your keyboard.
