Design Mode Overview

Getting Started with the Design Mode

The Design Mode allows you to create and refine space planning layouts and concept models with ease. In this tutorial, you'll learn about its interface, key features, from drawing and editing spaces to managing views, areas, performing analysis, collaboration tools and much more. Learn about all the tools in detail in the subsequent tutorials.


Draw and Edit Tools

All drawing and editing tools are available in the top panel of the Design mode.

Draw Tools

Use the Draw tools located in the Design tab to create spaces directly on the design canvas. The available tools include Line, Arc, Circle, and Rectangle, allow for precise adjustments to fit your design needs

Edit Tools

The available editing tools, such as move, copy, rotate, push/pull, etc can be used to modify the created spaces. These tools are found right next to the draw tools.

Views Panel

The Views panel on the left side of the screen displays a list of all project views, including:

  • 2D views

  • Elevations

  • 3D views

  • AI Render

Use this tab to navigate and customize your views.

Areas Dashboard

Access the area dashboard from the top right corner of the screen. This dashboard provides comprehensive details regarding all areas of the spaces you have created within the Design canvas, updating in real-time as you make edits to these spaces.

Sustainability Tab

The Sustainability tab (on the right side) provides climate analysis, including:

  • Shadow and

  • Direct sun hours

  • Sun Path diagram

Note: Visit "Direct Sun Hour Analysis" and "Shadow Analysis" to learn these analyses in detail.


Comments Tab

You can find project comments in the Comments tab. To navigate directly to a specific comment, simply click on it. If you wish to add a new comment, click on the Add Comment button.

Object Type Panel

Activating any Draw tool (Line, Arc, Circle or Rectangle) also activates the Object Type panel (beside the area dashboard button). The Object Type panel allows you to select an element type for drawing and choose from the offset Draw mode. In Design Mode, which is specifically for creating spaces, the only available object type will be 'Spaces'.

Share the Project

Share your project with stakeholders by clicking the Share button at the top right corner. Enter the email ID of the individual you wish to share the project with. Visit 'Sharing Project with Stakeholders' for more information on this.

Navigation Tools and Project Settings

Access all navigation tools including pan, orbit, position camera, zoom extents, switch 2D/3D, and project settings in the bottom panel

Note : You can also use the Views panel for direct switching between 2D & 3D.


Command Bar

Use the Command bar to search for tools or activate them directly from here.
