Creating a new Program in Program Mode

Updated over 2 weeks ago

This guide explains how to create a program for space planning in Program Mode on Snaptrude.

When you start a new project, you can begin building programs right away in Program Mode. Use the columns to add space labels, room areas, room counts, department names, and colors. Optionally, use the Custom Calculation columns to add any custom formulas needed for the program.

Space Data Entry

Step 1: Open program mode in the project.

Step 2: Start by entering Space labels for the program.

Step 3: Enter the area and room count. Press Enter to create spaces.

Note:

1. To for spaces to be successfully created in the Design mode, the columns of Space label, Net Area per Room and Room Count will have to be filled-in in the Program mode.
2. Spaces are simultaneously created in design mode as these three columns (Label, Area & Count) get filled in. Switch to design mode (or keep both tabs open side-by-side) to check the spaces created.

Assigning Departments

1. By default, spaces created are assigned to the 'Default' department.
To assign all the spaces to a department, use the header row and enter he department name under the 'Department Name' column to designate it for all associated spaces. A hex colour code will then be automatically assigned as well for that department which can be edited of required.

Any new space label added will then by default be assigned to this department.

2. To change a space's department, update it in the column against the respective space and press Enter. The Space will then be assigned to the new department

3. Create a department before entering space data to define the departments beforehand.

Detailed Program Mode

Expand Program Mode to view the detailed layout of the program. The areas set earlier become the Target Areas in the Design Fields as spaces are created. The Achieved Areas then reflect the actual areas of the spaces as edited in Design Mode. In other words, any changes made to the spaces during layout creation will update the Achieved Areas (Column B). The original areas specified during space creation are preserved as the Target Areas (Column F). The same logic applies to Room Count as well.

Pro-tip: Compare target and achieved areas in the Space-wise Area Summary.
