Project Settings

It's important to set proper project settings before you begin modelling your Snaptrude Project. To do this, simply click on “Project Settings” from the bottom toolbar.

Units

To set units on Snaptrude, click on the drop-down menu next to “Units”, and choose the unit that you want to work on. You can choose between Millimeters, Centimeters, Meters, Inches, and Feet-Inches, which will be your preferred units for your entire project.

You will be able to come back and switch to a different unit at any stage of your project; Snaptrude automatically converts the project units on the backend for you.

Tolerance

Tolerance helps you decide how precise you want your drawings to be. Our recommendation is the default setting of 0.00, but in case you would like to be more specific, you can choose the options below 0.00. If you want to be more absolute, select the options above 0.00.

Snap

The Snap settings in Snaptrude enable better control and restrict cursor movement to your defined interval. Snap mode is useful for specifying precise points.

Dimension Snap

  1. Dimension Snap helps draw with precise dimensions by restricting the movement of the draw tool to an X amount of distance.

  2. The default value of dimension snap is 100, because of which the draw tool is drawing in multiples of 100.

  3. On changing it to 50, the draw tool will snap to dimensions that are multiples of 50. For example, 50, 100, 150, 200, 250, 300... etc.

  4. You can switch off Dimension Snap by clicking on the toggle next to “Dimension Snap” in the Project Settings.

Angle Snap

  1. Angle Snap helps draw with precise angles by restricting the movement of the draw tool by an "X" degree.

  2. The default value of the Angle Snap is 15 Degrees, because of which, the draw tool is restricted or "Snapping" every 15 Degrees.

  3. On increasing it to 30, 45, 60, 90 etc., the cursor will snap to multiples of 30.

  4. You can switch off Angle Snap by clicking the toggle next to “Angle Snap” in the Project Settings.

Parallel Snap

You can quickly draw a new line parallel to a given line through the Parallel Snap tool.

  1. You can quickly draw a new line parallel to a given line through the Parallel Snap tool.

  2. Moving the cursor while drawing the new parallel line so that the new line is visually at the same angle as the original line.

  3. When the new line parallels the old line, it will turn pink.

  4. Switching off this snap will make it challenging to draw parallel lines, especially when working with angular designs.

Orthogonal Snap

Orthogonal snap helps draw lines entirely along the X & Y axis. The line turns blue on drawing and snaps when the object is precisely along the 90-degree multiple.

Normal Snap

Snap helps you draw lines that snap on to the midpoint, endpoint and centre points of already existing points. The colour representation for this snap is green.
