All Snaptrude models can be exported to Revit using the Snaptrude Manager's 'Reconcile to Revit' option. This functionality is useful in two ways:
Reconcile to an Existing Revit Project: This option is used when an existing Revit model is uploaded to Snaptrude for editing, allowing those edits to be reconciled back to the original Revit model.
Reconcile to a New Revit Project: Any model created from scratch in Snaptrude can also be imported into Revit while retaining the parameters of the model elements.
Reconcile to an existing Revit Project
Step 1: After uploading & editing the model on Snaptrude, you can reconcile the changes made back to the original Revit file. To do so, click on the drop down beside the name of the project. Select the option "Export Model/Drawing"
Step 2: By default, the export file format will be a 'Revit export file'. Rename the export file if you wish to. Finally, click on 'Export'. A '.trude' file of this project will then be downloaded into your system.
Step 3: Open Snaptrude Manager on Revit and click on 'Reconcile to Revit'.
Step 4: Locate & select the downloaded '.trude' file from the system. Finally, click on 'Open' to begin the reconcile process.
Once the reconciliation is complete, all changes made in Snaptrude will be visible in the Revit file.
Reconcile to a new Revit project
Step 1: After creating the model on Snaptrude, to export this model to Revit click on the drop-down menu next to the project name. Select 'Export Model/Drawing'.
Step 2: The file format for the Revit export is 'Revit Export File .trude'. Rename the file if needed, then click 'Export' to download the file.
Step 3: Once the file is downloaded, start a new project on Revit. Then, open the 'Snaptrude Manager' and click on 'Reconcile to Revit.'
Step 4: Select the downloaded '.trude' file from the system and click on 'Open' to start the reconciliation process.
After the reconciliation process is complete, the Snaptrude model will be imported into Revit with all its elements. In other words, elements from Snaptrude will be categorized according to their respective family types on Revit. Let's see how these different elements appear in Revit:
The floor labels from Snaptrude will be converted into room tags in Revit.
Walls, floors, slabs, columns, doors, windows, etc are imported as the respective families on Revit.
Any stair type added to the Snaptrude model, whether straight, dog-legged, open-well, L-shaped, or square, will be imported as cast-in-place stair in Revit with editable parameters such as riser width, riser height, tread depth, base level, base offset, etc.
In conclusion, you can create concept spatial models and convert them to BIM models in Snaptrude. These models can later be exported to Revit for further detailing and documentation.
